Citizens for a Safer San Leandro, born out of the tumultuous mayor’s forum on crime several months ago, is pressing city officials to act and residents to get active to counter the perceived rise in crime in San Leandro. Several BMHOA members are active in the group.

Citizens for a Safer San Leandro began in January, 2008, with a public meeting. Alarmed at the increasing incidents of crimes such as auto theft, homes being broken into, businesses being vandalized, kids being assaulted, a public meeting was held to seek citizen solutions to the violence. The library auditorium was filled with over 100 people and a list of solutions was compiled. From that meeting, volunteers began meeting twice monthly to change the situation.
